Mulled Apple Cider

  • 1 Crockpot

Ingredients
  

  • 8-10 Apples Granny Smith & Honey crisp. Stems removed
  • 1 Orange quartered
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup optional
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 1 tsp whole all spice
  • Water fully cover the ingredients.

Instructions
 

  • Clean and remove stems from apples. Cut apples and oranges into quarters and add into a crockpot. Add cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice, maple syrup, brown sugar.
  • Immerse ingredients in water. Stir well and cover with a lid. Cook on high for about 6 hours.
  • Carefully strain through a mesh strainer. Use a spoon to strain excess moisture. Discard the fruit mixture. Stir and adjust sweetness to your liking.
  • Store in a carafe or pitcher. Serve hot or cold. Cider will last up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Notes

I suggest peeling the orange. The peel has a bitter flavor that took a few edits after the cider was done to balance/sweeten it.
