Churro Recipe

Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these homemade churros are the perfect sweet treat! Made from simple dough, fried until golden, and coated in cinnamon sugar, they’re easy to whip up and pair perfectly with chocolate sauce for dipping.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/4 cup All purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp white sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • oil for frying

For Garnish

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • nutella

Instructions
 

  • For the cinnamon sugar- In a small bowl or plate combine cinnamon and sugar and set aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt butter. Once the butter melts add water, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, bring to a low simmer then reduce heat to medium low and add in all purpose flour.
  • Mix using a rubber spatula until the dough forms.Transfer the dough to a bowl and allow it to cool.
  • After 5 minutes, blend in one egg at a time until fully incorporated into the dough. Note: it will separate at first but keep mixing until smooth. Add the dough into a piping bag.
  • Next heat up neutral oil until it reaches 360 degrees F.
  • Carefully pipe the dough into 6-inch pieces into the preheated oil. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Using a spider spatula fish the churros out and gently shake to get excess oil off. Coat the churro in the cinnamon sugar until fully coated.
  • Wait about 2 minutes In between batches allow the oil to heat up again. Repeat the process until there is no more dough remaining. Serve warm with your favorite sauce, like nutella, chocolate ganache or dulce de leche and enjoy!
